What is obvious is that you and your source are very eager to give that impression.

But that's some mighty fine motor journalism. "Hey, let's test-drive this plug-in hybrid without plugging it in, then get indignant that it doesn't deliver. Brilliant!"

Newsflash: Products tend to underperform when used for a different purpose than the one they're designed for. They might as well criticize the F-150 for not seating eight adults.

If it were just one company and a few hundred thousand employees, we would have been able to deal with it eventually. But it was many companies and millions of employees. That we would not want.

Not only will the government recoup it's original investment they will get hundreds of times that in Income taxes, corporate taxes and property taxes.

This move saved litterally hundreds of thousands of jobs. Not just in GM but in all the auto parts plants, car dealerships, trucking companies, etc.

If Obama does anything, there will be a certain segment of the population that will moan and complain. He can do nothing right according to all these morons.
Well, the average American is just too stupid to understand. How do I get into Canada?

Default vette vs volt

Volt...kin to the Volkswagon???????????? both ordered by dictators.

New hi horse vettes are getting around 30 + mpg compared to the wonderkind, "Volt to get about 37.5 mpg in city driving".

The vette is all GM, the Volt is all Government....anyone notice the difference?

Vette, Vega, Volt

The volt will be a huge seller in countries where Obama practices rendition. Hook one of those babies up to someone's nether regions and they will spill their guts for sure.

Many being ordered for Venezuela and the drug lords in Mexico.

I will be interested to see how the GM Volt actually performs.

I admit, I do not understand the pinhead arguments about this being President's Obama's car. The Volt was been in the works for years.

Same here, but it'll never be resolved. MPG is not a very useful benchmark for a plug-in hybrid.

You may be assuming rationality where none exists.

I have been very involved in American affairs since 08 and I have to tell you this. I am extremely disappointed in the intellegence shown by millions of American people.

People who have millions of followers hanging on their every word would not have any listeners here in Canada. We have them here too of course but they are standing on a soap box in some park somewhere and their only listeners are the pidgeons and seagulls hoping for a crust or two.

Is it any wonder that the USA is the land of the snake oil salesman, the huckster and con man, the crooked evangelist and the carney barker. There is just something wierd about the American phyche that enables them to be fooled by the same corrupt, lying, self serving con men over and over again.

Under the normal process, they would have continued to manufacture cars and there would have been no danger of the WHOLE automotive manufacturing going bye-bye - a ridiculous argument on it's face.
sanrene is right. what would have happened, and what should have happened, is that gm and chrysler filed for chapter 11 reorganization. during that time they would still have been building cars, but they would have been forced to sit down with their creditors and the unions and renegotiate all their contracts under court supervision. deals would have been made, and the court would have supervised everything while the legal process continued.

no they went through the government taking over the companies, and screwing the creditors and bond holders, and stock holders, so that obama could have a big splash in the headlines, and make the bogus claim that he saved the auto industry. and the automakers filed for reorganization, NOT liquidation.

but had gm and chrysler filed for liquidation, both companies would have remained open while their assets were sold off to other companies. and there were companies in line to buy the various assets of both companies, and keep cars rolling off those lines.

Firstly I very much doubt you are in tune to US affairs, you have proven time and time again how spaced out and disconnected from reality you really are, honestly do not try to portray yourself as some expert on anything.

Next concentrate on the growing Tea Party and Conservative movement in your own country. There have been rallies hosted, significant amount of funds raised. Hell Sarah Palin even made 6 figures from a speech in Hamilton (Hepburn: Sarah Palin and Tea Party anger in Canada - thestar.com) Who was funding this? Americans? Sounds like you have something to worry about in your own backyard.
