The most shocking figure is taht per capita income in Minnesota is only $19k. Seems teachers are doing very well there. I wonder if it might be cost effective to fire all of them and just send all the kids to private schools.

If that's true...then good. I don't hate on other people for making a good living. Especially the folks who teach our kids. If i'm gonna be angry, i'd rather focus it on some defense contractor for making 150k a year for slinging hash in a mess hall in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Minnesota also has consistently has one of the highest rated K-12 educational systems in the country. In fact it’s a big selling point in terms of attracting people and businesses to the state. The public thus far has been willing to make an investment in education that yields qualitative results.

Now compare the education system in Minnesota to places like Florida, South Carolina and other states that have either low teacher pay or no collective bargaining.

More lies, misinformation and sensationalism. Can't do without that, eh? Let me put your scenario to scrutiny first:
1) Median individual income in Minnesota
2) Median income for a teacher in Minnesota

For the first, you claimed $19K. That is a lie. If not a lie, you're misinformed. The median per capita income in Minnesota is about $42K.

I would now like you to provide the number you're aware of from your source for #2.

But, regardless, among government employees, I think teachers deserve higher income than politicians. No?

So a teacher 'only' makes more than twice as much as a regular Minnesotan....
