Aren't democrats supposed to be anti-business, pro-union, communist socialists?

Stock markets historically do better under Dems than Reps. - Jan. 22, 2004

Quote:
"Democrats are seen as being pro-regulatory, and more willing to enact laws against Wall Street and laws against CEOs," said Don Luskin, chief investment officer at Trend Macrolytics.

But here's Wall Street's strange little irony -- studies show the stock market performs better and tends to be less volatile when Democrats are in power.

This discrepancy was explored recently in a study by two finance professors at the University of California at Los Angeles, Pedro Santa-Clara and Rossen Valkanov.
The stock market prefers Democratic presidents. - By Carol Vinzant - Slate Magazine

Quote:
But Democrats, it turns out, are much better for the stock market than Republicans. Slate ran the numbers and found that since 1900, Democratic presidents have produced a 12.3 percent annual total return on the S&P 500, but Republicans only an 8 percent return. In 2000, the Stock Trader's Almanac, which slices and dices Wall Street performance figures like baseball stats, came up with nearly the same numbers (13.4 percent versus 8.1 percent) by measuring Dow price appreciation. (Most of the 20th century's bear markets, incidentally, have been Republican bear markets: the Crash of '29, the early '70s oil shock, the '87 correction, and the current stall occurred under GOP presidents.)
InvestorCentric: Democratic Presidents Have Better Stock Market Performance

Quote:
Research suggests that stock market performance can be connected to the election cycle and the party that is in power. Interestingly, one paper found that 1 year after an election, democratic presidents presided over better performing stock markets than republican presidents.
Looks like if you want a safe retirement you are going to re-elect Barack Obama for four more years.

Because normally when there is a Democratic President, you get a Republican Congress.. and vice versa.. its CONGRESS that holds the power, not the president.

p.s. The stock market did so well because it LAID OFF EMPLOYEES.. So you celebrate the growth of the stock market, while many of us shake our heads in shame because we know it grew at the expense of those hard working individuals losing their jobs..

In addition, stock markets rise usually at the expense of the bond market, and at the expense of investment capital being limited, (which is what we are getting now)..

So THAT'S why I rarely hear conservatives complain about Barack and Michelle Obama.

I guess, then, the GOP won't contest Obama next year since his role is so unimportant, right?

The reason Obama is so dangerous to the health of the economy is because, until January, there was no counter balance to his destructive policies. Since the Republican House was seated in January, the country has seen there is active opposition to his policies. The fact that business is starting to hire again is an indication that they have confidence that his anti business attitude will be thwarted.

Maybe you need to re-read the Constitution.. Then you'll figure out that ALL legislation begins in Congress.. The president leads, but if Congress doesnt want to go where the President wants to go.. then NO laws get written..

You dont even need to read the whole thing.. just the FIRST section.

Section 1. All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Studies show that our economy does best with a Democratic president and a Republican congress.

As we saw with the devastation of having an entirely Republican president and Congress that led to this collapse, going to such a radical extreme is always dangerous.

I prefer the balance.

No, no, no. You all are so blatantly opportunistic. The stock market was thriving LONG before January. The unemployment rate was dropping. The private sector was creating jobs.

You don't get to rewrite history to serve your ideological agenda.

LOTS of revisionist history here.

If the market were crashing then it would be Obama's fault.

As the market soars, its because of the GOP House.

I mean, C'MON!!
