If you feel like a slave it's because YOU ALLOWED yourself to become enslaved.
His post was clearly sarcastic. Do you really think that he thought having a smartphone, his own laptop, and the ability to get up and drive his car anywhere he wants to do whatever he wants is slavery? I think you're just caught in the heat of the moment and not reading anymore.
What we must realize is whatever governmental system we devise, SOMEBODY will be in charge. The question is who!
What we have today in America is very close to a corporate oligarchy. Our leaders must bow to Big Money for their survival.
Communism in USSR, on the other hand, had a committee in charge, which had self-interest of its own.
It seems like any system devised by men can become corrupted if "good men do nothing" (by watching TV for instance). The corporate-owned media no longer informs - it entertains.
Remember in "Lord Of The Flies" when deprived of govt, the bullies took over until met with a higher power (the rescue ship). Lord of the Flies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Capitalism indeed. There is no capitalism. And no communism or socialism, for that matter!! There is just THEM, and everyone else. And YOU are everyone else.
There is an Oligarchy and their sheeple. And this Oligarchy has convinced the sheep to herd each other ... to worry that one sheep has more wool than the other ... or that some sheep have a better herder than all the others ..... all the while, ALL of the sheep are being fleeced.
They call it different names, but at the end of the day, it all turns out the same.
False. Many rich people were "born into money." They didn't earn it, they were just born into the right family. And yes, they have a social responsibility to share the wealth. Greed is evil and perverse. It is a sin.
Wrong. The majority of the wealthy did not inherit their wealth.
"Competition makes people strive for better, work harder/smarter, outwit their opponents and..."
Implicit in the word "competition" is "opponents" one is competing against.
How could a philosophy that, by it's own admission, turns individuals into "opponents" be good for humanity or humanity's ultimate progress and survival? Capitalism's flaws are embedded in the very language its proponents freely choose to describe it.
If you're walking around thinking that the goal is for everybody to outwit each other and that human relationships are properly conducted based on a model of competition and opposing each others efforts at survival, as capitalists openly admit they do, you have lost the debate right there.
What a pathetic emotional response. "Competition gives me anxiety therefor it's bad". Get some basic understanding about what competition is and what it does.

I may have over-reacted but the statement still stands. There are people out there that do in fact fee like slaves. The social and cultural indoctrination American people revolves around CONSUMPTION.
Kids feel they have to have the RIGHT clothes and gadgets to be soically acceptable. CONSUMPTION
Young people feel the need to be hip and trendy with clothes, cars, smartphones, lattes, trips to "cool" places. CONSUMPTION
Often a man is judge on how suitable a partner he is for a woman on his ability to wine and dine her and to provide for her. CONSUMPTION
Marriage is seen as being the be all and end all of a relationship between a man and a woman. CONSUMPTION.
Then people feel compelled to buy homes. CONSUMPTION
Of course once is married there is social indoctrination to have children. MORE CONSUMPTION
There are lot of people that just mindlessly go through life just accept that's what you do whatever ever stopping to really think about it.
In the meantime wealth in this country is created by INVESTING AND RISK TAKING.
Pure FREE MARKET CAPITLISM is an interesting theory. I wonder when anyone will allow it to exist. FMC is far too risky for the investor and business classes of society. Even Adam
Smith commented on the propensity for businessmen to figure out ways to destroy competition by any other method than providing a good or service in a better and cheaper (lower profit) manner. Having a government intervene with subsidies, market restrictions, patents, and limiting liability is far more profitable and far less risky.
This is why we have government protection for business and "Free Market" for everyone else.

What we have today is Crony Capitalism.
And the primary role of government is to protect people's rights.....so we don't have a "Lord of the Flies" environment.
