The large bottle is supposed to make you think you got a lot for the money.

They have higher plastic and shipping costs for the large, mostly empty, bottles.

Don't worry. The federal government is all over this issue. They know it's just a hidden way for evil corporations to pass on higher prices (inflation) to consumers. That's why they increased payments to Social Security recipients for the past 2 years.

There was no Social Security increase in the past 2 years?

. . . . . nevermind.

You'd be amazed at how cheaply you can eat well. I spend @ $75 to buy groceries for my wife and myself for a week.

I, too, eat luddite food, but more luddite than you.

Some people actually eat eggos, which are like aluminum wafers.

They have been doing this kind of stuff for years, coffee is prime example. It was always sold by the pound but now they have anything from 10oz up to. They never even changed the can, that's a one pound can if it's full.

There is jar of pickles we just bought and after bringing it home I noticed it looked a bit skimpy...

Thats the other thing I've noticed, (even though it wasnt your point).

Grocery stores will be selling chips for $3.00 each this week.. Next week they will go on sale.. 2 for $6.00.. and the following week when the sale is over, the price of each bag goes to $3.50..

Its like a sneaky way of increasing the price of the item and trying to cushion the pain psychologically..

"ooh, it was only $3 last week because it was on sale".. when reality it really wasnt...

Of course, they didn't change the packaging, only the amount of liquid inside. I'm old enough to remember when they used to give 67.6 fl oz, the equiv of 2 liters. When they shrunk to 64 oz, I overlooked it, but now 59 fl oz! I quickly changed my choice and bought the cheaper minute maid (64 fl oz) instead. My Angel soft toilet paper looks mysteriously smaller too. I feel deceived. companies shouldn't get away with this.
they aren't getting away with it. looks like they've lost you as a customer and probably many others. in fairness to the company their costs have probably gone up significantly and rather than just raise the price, they probably decided to raise the price a little less and drop the quantity. when the cost of running a business goes up, the producer can either offer less product or service, they can raise their prices or they can do a little of both. i always get a little worried when people imply that there should be legislation against this, for that always has horrendous unforeseen consequences. the reality is that the market will ensure that orange juice prices are fair. if tropicana charges too much and drops their quantity, they make it attractive for new competitors to enter the market.

I once bought cocaine that was so heavily cut with lactose it was like snorting powdered milk. You could snort all day and not get nose freeze skiing without a face mask.
