Congratulations, Illinois gun owners. I'm sure you worked long and hard for this.
I follow this issue as closely as I can. IL was thought by some to be a lost cause. Stand firm and tall. Don't rest until the bill is signed into law. As you well know, gun grabbing politicos have a lot of tricks and schemes to pull at the last minute.

One of those tricks and schemes is to defeat the bill in a vote, which is what happened today. (Or was it yesterday?)
Concealed carry has been around for a long time in Georgia and I am starting to see more people with visible carry sidearms.
Not a safer store or restaurant exists where 25% if the men are visibly carrying. One look around and no thug will hold up that place.
In NC, we've had CCW since 1995, but open carry is still not very safe. I have see fisherman carry at lakes & ponds and a few storeowners in their businesses. I open carried on 1 job in a BAD neighborhood, working mostly alone, on a copper theft job.
Problem in NC is a statute, "Going armed to the terror of the public". You could carry on your hip, go down the street minding your own business, no problem. Turn a corner, a nervous Nellie wets her pants and screams "he's got a gun, agghh!". Cop comes over, you are charged with that statute. Much too subjective. I hope we get that repealed or worded better.
In action Thursday, the latest proposal to legalize concealed weapons fell a handful of votes short of the 71 needed for passage in the Illinois House. Defeat of the measure came a day after Gov. Pat Quinn said he’d veto the measure if it landed on his desk.
I'm sure sorry to hear that. But don't give up, keep on fighting.
I had some family in IL (Chicago) for years. Most of them have now left and live in other states. Crime was among their concerns.
