Are you really saying you are against people wanting to have freedom and rights and not be controlled by a dictator? I sure hope you are not saying that.
As Hillary Clinton said this morning, or yesterday morning (i forget) "there are evil rulers, conflicts between and within countries all over the world at one time or another. As much as America would love for everyone to have freedom and democracy we cannot simply intervene, at will." That's paraphrased, but essentially what she said.
She's actually right, we can't.
I wonder if you, Sunny-Dave90, felt the same way during the Rwanda holocaust; the horrific Congro fighting? No? Well, what about that bloody horrific war in Bosnia?
Bush jumped into the Iraq war because he and Cheney had a plan to steal their oil. It's really that simple.
ANd just tonight when Donal Trump was thumping on Obama, (and some of it justified, IMO, I might add) he said, "Iran is going to go in and take Iraq's oil, so why don't we just take their oil?"
Ain't that just so American of him!! Iraq was about stealing their oil. As for Libya, whaat were we to do? We needed to be in unison with other UN nations......the ranch at Crawford was sold and the wannabe cowboy is now living in a very urban and posh gated community in Dallas.
Well, I think today just proved the wisdom of a president who is reluctant to commit the USA to yet another inilateral military misadventure. My attitude was "what about those freaking Europeans"? The conflict is right in their backyard. They are the ex colonial powers that are largly responsible for so much of what is wrong with the region today. Let them do something. Let them expend their treasure and soldiers for once. Why should the USA pull the chestnuts out of the fire for them over and over again. They have gotten used to it ever since the end of WW2. It's way past time for a change in this never ending America to the rescue soap opera.
I was totally appaled by them when the Serbs were running amuck and the European community sat there and did nothing at all. If it had not been for the USA and it's leadership in NATO the Serbs would now be the Greater Serbs probably haven taken over the entire Balkins.
I applaud the President. His foreign policy is far better than that we have come to expect from the USA.
I couldn't agree more. It's really great to have a president with such patience and foresight. It's not a glamorous position, and he'll take flack for it from those who want to bluster over the world, but this president shows again and again wisdom on a level most simply do not possess.
Today's decision proved that, as you said. Very fiscally and morally sound foreign policy to save money and lives.
Now Obama at this late date has decided to go ito libya against his military advise. So we will see what indesiveness means won't we?
you're entitled to your opinion, but are you aware that if he didn't wait for the UN we would have launched right into another Iraq where we get stuck with everything?
I don't understand when prudence and conservatism went out of fashion.

tell it to the families of those who will undoubtedly die there.

I want you to be honest - if McCain were in this position, would you have said the same thing? Because I'm pretty sure he would have made the same decision.

Listen dumbass, for the last time bomb his ass. Then get yourself an intern to let off some "steam". Just make sure you don't take out any aspirin factories.

Hilarious! It's been what - 31 days? They wait until the "rebels" are about to be slaughtered, along with their brothers who already were.
Ok...now you're A-ok with invading and bombing a sovereign nation?
I can only imagine what the reaction would be if this were Bush.
