DOJ will only investigate bullying cases if the victim is considered protected under the 1964 Civil Rights legislation. In essence, only discrimination against a victim’s race, sex, national origin, disability, or religion will be considered by DOJ. The overweight straight white male who is verbally and/or physically harassed because of his size can consider himself invisible to the Justice Department.

If a minority is "bullied" by a white , DOJ will take the case , bullied by another minority , no.
Is this what the feds should be doing ? Why don't we pay mothers to home school , come to school for tests , go home , that will save many dollars. What crazy / wrong crap will they think of next to spend borrowed money on ?
Sounds like it came straight out of Eric Holder's playbook.

The Civil Rights Act protects the rights of minorities, does it not? Therefore, if a minority is bullying a white person, that would not fall under the scope of the Civil Rights Act.

IMO, the DOJ needs to focus on more important things and leave this matter to the parents and schools involved.

Good post.
I am sure there is no good to come of this program.

Oh how horrible to acknowledge the existence of children from families with parents who are of the same gender, or children from broken homes or children being raised by relatives.

What is the message being sent when a school refuses to acknowledge their existence? What is the message to both the children of such families and what is the message to children from "traditional" families?

Oh hush, because we don't acknowledge "them" in polite society. Talk about setting children up to be targets.

Yes there is agenda. Recently we have seen via Australia what happens when bullying isn't taken seriously. Wouldn't it have been better if the victim in that incident knew that he could depend on teachers, administrators and other children coming to his aid. Wouldn't it have been better if kids knew that what was occurring was way out of bounds and that they could and should act as an ally of the child that was routinely being abused.
