Try being her age and living in a country that treated your race as second or even third best. The First Lady was born in '64, meaning she clearly remembers a nation that used to call her "colored".

You know nothing of what you're talking about.

Sorry, another race card tossed into the trash can.
No one knew Obama was half white until his racial makeup became public. On the street, he'd be seen by the world as a black man; and for all you know, with his Arabic name, he could've been of partial Trans-Saharan ancestry. That would make him a full-blooded African-American.

Our president is black, so enough with the straw man.

At one time the word colored was an acceptable term as was the term, Negro. I'm sure in a few years the term African American will be considered passe' and militants will call anyone using that old term a racist. I think the term black has stood the test of time

The Bangs Avenue School elected in 2010 to change its name to Barack H. Obama Elementary. It will be shuttered this summer, largely due to low enrollment.

This must be a "school" where grades are not recorded and the students are passed along.

Cruel? Nah! It just sounds plain stupid in its lame attempt at inferring Obama is somehow to blame.

Sorry, but this is a diaperload. So the same people who support Clarence Thomas are racists just because we don't show the love for Obama the Left-winger? C'mon, now.

It was acceptable because WHITES said so. But the word is not the point. The point is that for most of the First Lady's life, things were not all peachy-keen for black folks. So it's hard to take pride in a country that has given you such a hard time in the past. Non-blacks can shrug off our hardships all they want, but it doesn't make them any less true.
