Like I said before, socialism "works" (using the term VERY loosely) in countries/areas like Germany, Scandinavia and Japan because assimilation is forced and the population is not nearly as diverse. But, it's still fun to watch Krugman make up excuses as to why we can't implement socialism in America. Maybe it's because Americans don't want it?

YouTube - Paul Krugman: America The Banana Republic Would Be Socialist Like Europe if We Weren't So Racist

The two worst words to describe a politician are Racist and Socialist.

Only in a liberal rag could this tool continue to be paid to write. Pathetic. Liberalism is a mental disorder and he is a prime example

It is astonishing that people asked Krugman why there is no socialism in America, where does he find these people

I had to stop right here, because these countries are not SOCIALISTS.

socialism: political system of communal ownership: a political theory or system in which the means of production and distribution are controlled by the people and operated according to equity and fairness rather than market principles

stage between capitalism and communism: in Marxist theory, the stage after the proletarian revolution when a society is changing from capitalism to communism, marked by pay distributed according to work done rather than need

You celebrate socialims, but use countries that are not socialism as an example..

These countries have a high welfare and safety net, but thats NOT socialism...

I didn't want to juxtapose quotation marks on both words: socialism and works.

The word cannot be used in a plural successfully. My spell checker barked at it.

See above.

Actually, I cleared up my position regarding what I meant by socialism in the context of the conversation as well as pointed out your use of the non-word "socialisms" (indicating that perhaps you don't have much of a clue on what it means).

Maybe you're one of those people who thinks TARP wasn't a socialist policy.

Because to some pointing out errors in spelling, punctuation or grammar means serious win on teh internets.

Takes less work, too.

I don't correct on typos, as they are much more inescapable and aren't a side effect of intellectual laziness. I correct on errors such as the following:

using "looser" instead of loser
using non-words like "socialisms"
using threw instead of through (e.g. I was threw with you)

Those types of errors are indications of problems in articulating a proper message.
