People and the press get outraged whenever a politician makes a stupid remark on evolution or climate change, but when it comes to economics, politicians are able to make the most absurd comments unscathed. Those who deem themselves intelligent and scientifically "literate" go out of their way to ridicule politicians. Neil Degrasse Tyson and Bill Nye are known for this.

Because scientists usually have an IQ of more than 10.

Maybe scientists have "an IQ of more than 10", but the global warming alarmist scientists are no less unscrupulous than many politicians. They also lie, cheat, and steal money from taxpayers based on false, or at the very least scientifically unsubstantiated, statements to benefit their agendas and enrich themselves.

That's a really good question since Democrats and the left have been getting away with it for years. I suspect it's because a complicit and supine media shares their failed philosophy and refuses to call them on it. Then there's the huge percentage of the population that is governed by emotion rather than fact, that probably has something to do with it.

Because, in spite of their fondest wishes, economists are not "hard" scientists. As, for instance, Tyson is.

Edited to add - AFAIK, neither Tyson nor Nye have weighed in about economic issues - except that both support increased public funding of science research and science education.

You ask to be lied to. You insist that you be lied to. You enjoy being lied to.

Tyson is a degreed scientist, not a practising one. Does he hold tenure? When was the last time he published a paper with a peer reviewed journal?

His post-PhD job is director of the Hayden Planetarium, he's never been a full-time professor at a university. Although he has done guest teaching, almost all at Princeton.

His last peer-reviewed article was in 2008.
