A 16-year-old Schaumburg girl was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison for brutally beating a neighbor with a hammer last year, but will spend only about the next five years in a juvenile detention facility if she stays out of trouble until her 21st birthday.

The girl, who is not being named because she was not charged as an adult, pleaded guilty to attempted murder two weeks ago in connection with the March 2010 attack on 58-year-old Rajesh Thakkar.

Attempted murder, 5 yrs. in jail if she is a good girl in juvie......and a clean record once she is out. Welcome to the world where sociopaths go free. The current juvie system encourages violent teens to try this stuff because the know the system will let them off.

In a suburb of Chicago? Good luck with that! Illinois doesn't have CCW.

It all goes back to the home, or in this case, a lack of nurturing home life.

I know I live here, there is a CCW bill that has a chance of passing this year though...

That would never happen to me

not only that, she previously pled guilty to carjacking, and battery upon a fellow student.

funny, they won't name her, but they name her sister:
Quote:
Before police and paramedics arrived, the girl’s sister — 19-year-old Latifah Johnson — tried to clean up blood from the scene.
at least she got 4 months jail and 120 hrs community service. meanwhile, the victim lost an eye and can probably never work again.

When will politicians find the courage to face down the NHA (National Hammer Association) and pass sensible hammer control?

Media is not allowed to name minors. Sounds like a family of bad actors.

actually, they can.

Quote:
Q: We printed the name of a 17-year-old arrested for car jacking. Now the mother is complaining and said we should not have legally named her kid. Does she have a case?

A: In general, under the First Amendment the truthful publication of the identity of a juvenile who has been accused of a serious crime cannot be punished. See Smith v. Daily Mail Publishing Co., 443 U.S. 97, 103 (1979).
Can I publish the name of a minor involved in a crime? : First Amendment Coalition
i believed they couldn't either, until i looked it up a couple months ago for a case where they named a 12 y.o. boy in a hate crime case.
yeah, a family of bad actors, to be sure.

So many of our young, of just plain losing it why! So many think nothing of just killing someone or those they do not like, and without problems.

Do the crime, don't pay with enough time!
