Mr. Jones said his event at the Islamic Center is aimed at protesting sharia, or Islamic law. He said he expects a handful of supporters to join him.
In response, Kassem Allie, executive administrator at the Islamic Center, said the mosque will hold an interfaith gathering involving the Archdiocese of Detroit and other Christian churches Thursday afternoon. Mr. Allie is encouraging congregants to avoid the mosque Friday and join a "Stop the Hate" rally being held elsewhere.
Although Mr. Jones said the public had nothing to fear, he is concerned about his own safety. He said he has received 400 death threats, including some from Dearborn residents. He said he and an assistant accompanying him plan to be armed.
"I have a .40-caliber semiautomatic that I carry with me at all times," said Mr. Jones. "If someone would try to attack us, shoot us, we would have no problem defending ourselves."

Sharia law CAN'T be in this country, do you understand that ? Protests are useless because Muslims can't do that. And I'm sure all Muslims in the US don't want Sharia.

Protests against the Muslim religion are not useless and it is a freedom everyone is granted in this country.

There are plenty of Muslims that are still trying (and would love to) bring Sharia law here - wake up!

And btw...do you personally know ALL Muslims in order to make your statement, "I'm sure all muslims in the US don't want Sharia?"

Winston Churchill had thoughts on Islam. This is from his 1899 book, The River War, written when he was 24 years old:

Quote:
How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.…A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities ... but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome. [The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pp. 248-50.]

Churchill is warning the west about the evils of Islam just like he warned the west about Hitler in the 1930's only to get boo'd down.

Protest all you want.

It isn't happening and won't happen anyway.

It's not about Sharia becoming the law of the land within our lifetime. That is not going to happen. It is however about letting the Muslim community know that extremism in their ranks will be opposed and if Muslims want to be accepted they should oppose extremism as well.

We have already seen extremism and unofficial Sharia law in Muslim communities in the UK and Netherlands. Extremists in both these nations have carved out little enclaves that are isolated from mainstream society and produce a disproportionate amount terrorists.

It's not so much about the US (or the West in general) becoming like Saudi Arabia, but rather about having to consider conservative Muslim sensibilities in everyday life. "Oh, we can't put that billboard for a restaurant that does not serve halal meat too close to that mosque." "Our bank's mascot is a piggy bank, we should pick a new mascot because Muslims will protest." "Oh, you need to care dressing like that when in that neighborhood, you could get assaulted."

That is already all too common in many European nations today.
