We do have one amusing dual citizen USA and NZ who accepted a knighthood.
Real keen on being known as Sir etc etc when in NZ or else where in the Commonwealth.
Yeah, that's how it seemed to me. Most polls have shown a big drop in support for a republic, even in Australia where the polls showed that the majority wanted a republic in the late 1990s.

The dual citizen award thing is a bit suspicious. I believe it's illegal for a US citizen to accept a title of nobility but maybe that law was repealed or it dosent apply to dual citizens.

Just found this this morning. Support for Australia becoming a republic has fallen to the lowest level in 17 years with only 41% in favor. The % of Australians in favor of a republic seems to drop more and more each year since the 1999 referendum.

The republicans of course, are blaming the drop on Wedding fever and William's recent trips down under.

The royal wedding has brought billions in revenue to the Brits in tourist dollars.

Not a bad deal, really.

Nowhere near what it's cost.

Always looking for an excuse lol. Did it ever occur to them that maybe the people just don't want a republic?

It's pretty sad when they have more coverage of this British BS than what happened in Alabama last night. Who cares.

I just hope that Kate Middleton isn't as crazy as Diana. All the world needs is another nutball chick with black circlesa round her eyes, a six-figure monthly high colonic bill, and a suicidal fling with an Arab playboy who hires drunken chauffeurs.

Oh, and a reprise of Elton John in a sequined jumpsuit puffing on a candle. Spare us that terminally camp image of unbridled maudlinism.
