To the price of gas: I say, respectfully, deal with it. The price of gas is too low anyway; it's the definition of a false economy. Almost everything evil about this country comes back to our dependence on the stuff.

Buy a hybrid. Enjoy boating? Get a kayak. We have an obesity problem anyway, you could probably use the exercise.

Rely on fuel for a living? You have my sympathy, but the world has changed. Resources are thin. Adapt or perish.
This is just breathtaking. You do realize that EVERYTHING you have, everything that makes this country what it is today, is due in large part to oil?

Everything in your house, most everything you furnish your house with, the food you buy, the clothes on your back, the car you drive, the building where you work and everything in it can be attributed to oil.

Just compare third word nations without electricity, without oil and that is what you advocate?

EVERYTHING that has made this country great, has provided you with your current lifestyle is because of oil.

Sort of in a way. If i have to go to just one store, i make sure that if there is anything else i will be needing the end of the week or weekend, i my as well make all my trips at one time. When gas go's up to $5 bucks this summer, yea you better believe i will change my habits.

Anyways, i know most of all the wholesale diso**** sites online, and those in charge, give me such good deals, the stores could never do, i am bold, come out and ask them for a deeper discount, talk about the economy, and where it is not headed, and yes i do get deals. I now know the people to ask for to get the deals. The last was on some accent furnishings, i could not believe the price i got a bombe chest accent table for, i had to get it. And they included shipping for me, coming from N.C. TO CALIF free ship, sounds pretty good to me.

I will do more shopping online. Grocery has not really changed yet, except, making more then one stop at the different stores.

Hmm drilling for Oil and building and running Refineries wouldn't help at all eh???

Nahh there would be no high paying jobs created at all...

Cheap energy allows too much FREEDOM and we can't have that in the USSA!!!!

Not to imply an apples-to-apples, obviously, but you could substitute slavery for oil and you could make the same case you just did.

The point being, innovation and adaptability made this country great. Not some tangible resource; we swap those all the time as needed. It's time for a swap.

For a while, oil worked; we didn't know the environmental issues to the degree we do now. We didn't foresee the shortage very well. And we certainly couldn't have foreseen the odd and dangerous international political entanglements rooted in the oil game.

Technology is emerging that will allow us to break our addiction to oil. We need to embrace it or perish; there are no other options.
