Are we paid back yet?

Otherwise this is as foolish as celebrating in the end zone with three quarters left in the game.

GM was recently ranked as the 7th largest company in America in the latest Forbes 500..

they have paid back their government loans and seem to be back on their feet...hopefully, they will stay there.

I wonder if it is because 47% of the residents of Detroit CANNOT READ? They aren't turning wrenches on a 1970 Firebird anymore.

Why do people continue to lie on behalf of this administration, even to the point of their own detriment?

I thnik that them paying back the loans and getting out fro under gevernamnt control will be important if they are to become profitable agin. Chrysler is looig for ways to do just that. But with the growing competition it goig to be a very hard task especailly as the chniese market is now the biggest and growig fast plus they will be enterig the manufacturing side. With them and south korea its not just the japnaese anymore like the 70's they see coming on strong and fast. Its goig to be more comnpetitive tha ever and i don't see any limited inports like the 80's because we are not the growing market.

No, GM stock must reach at least $52 or slightly higher before the US taxpayer is "paid back". However, IIRC, there was a thread recently bringing attention to the fact that this administration planned to sell the government (a.k.a. taxpayer) GM stock at a $33 Billion loss to the taxpayer. GM stock actually fell on the earnings report. They have a major recall of the Cruze and real problems with the Volt.

Quote:
Shares of GM failed to rally around the numbers, declining 1.45% to $32.56 ahead of Thursday’s open. The stock has dropped more than 10% year-to-date.
