This is a poll. NO ONE yet knows what cause this bridge to collapse, but boy, I have never seen a structural defect cause a bridge to collapse this quickly. In fact, hwne I first turned on the TV, I thought it was an Earthquake in CA!!

Here is the story: FOXNews.com - Major Minneapolis Bridge Collapses Over Mississippi River - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

Vote on your gut feeling of what (possibly) happened. NO ONE knows yet what caused it, so guessing is all we can do... for now.

Was it terrorism or not??

Is every disaster that happens from this point on going to be jumped on immediatley as an act of terrorism?

Bridges unfortunatley, from time to time, are unstable and collapse. This isn't the first time I've seen this happen. Don't bring out the conspiracy theorists.

Homeland Security were so quick to say it WAS NOT terror. How would they know so early? Suspicious?

40 year old bridge in bad repair handling more traffic than it
and the surrounding infrastructure was meant to.
The only terrorist activity was the development of that area
that led to this much traffic.

I was just on the phone with my brother-in-law. He works for the state of Florida and is an expert on bridges, thats what he does. Inspects them and so on. He said he is familiar with that bridge and as recently as 9 months ago it was being evaluated for fatigue cracks.

Even if it was terrorism, I don't think the Reichssicherheitshauptamt would ever admit something was terror-related if it could be helped. By denying terrorists the credit for an attack, the point of the entire operation is rendered moot.

The steam explosion in New York?
TWA Flight 800?
American Airlines Flight 587?

Now this?

Al Qaeda's M.O. is not to claim responsibility for its actions, instead letting the intelligence agencies work out who really did it. Is it plausible that this was an infrastructure failure? Sure is. Is it plausible this could be terror-related? Sure is. Will we know for certain? Not likely.

I just watched the local news on the net from up there, they were working on those same problems today actually. An expert structural engineer said they are looking at concrete samples and steel samples. He also said it is unlikely that the repair work had anything to do with it, but the cause of the repair may have. What a tragedy.

No, I don't think the bridge collapsed due to terrorist activity. But it sure would have been nice to use some of the money we are spending in Iraq to have fixed the bridge before it collapsed.
