Newt Gingrich confronted over Paul Ryan comments - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Gingrich also seemed to express support for a health care individual mandate -- a requirement that all Americans purchase health insurance -- which he had clearly supported in 1993, when it was seen as the conservative, social-responsibility option

I am sure someone will be glad to explain it.

is it considered an "about -face" when the republicans LEARN and understand that it was a bad idea then, and is still a bad (an unconstitutional) idea now???

the FEDERAL government can NOT force(mandate) you to BUY an insurance. especially if you can afford it...it is way unconstitutional

Because they realized how much campaign money they can get from the HI and Pharma companies.
This of course is why the "changes" do little but reinforce the HI and Pharma Companies as king.

yet another liberal failed thread.. A handful of GOP members supporting a plan, doesnt equate to the GOP party.. The mass majority of Republicans hated the plan then, they hate it now.. it hy it went NO WHERE..

And Newt supported some accountability, that doesnt equate to governmental healthcare.. The only question is why you guys dont mind embarassing yourself pretending they are even close to the same.

Fail, Obama got more money from health industry than anyone
Obama Received $20 Million from Healthcare Industry in 2008 Campaign | Common Dreams

The fact is, because government already contracts out for service, the plan if moved forward would actually INCREASE campaign contributions, not decrease them, as private industries try to buy their way into new contracts..

Gingrich like Obama is a Washington beltway politician and they would be very against politicians losing their power.
No way we want medical through the government.
Obamacare needs reversal.
Gingrich will not get anywhere a nomination IMO.
