This is the answer.
What I find ironic about the posts in this thread is that we are nearing a decade in Iraq, which has been the biggest boondoggle of our time-how much has that costed? Hundreds of Billions?
That was Bush's doing btw. Not Obama's. So the folks now supremely concerned about spending should have voiced their dismay when it really mattered.
Now it just comes across as sour grapes.

China is a bubble waiting to pop. I can't wait.

Offering ANY foreign aid to anyone in the Middle East is only trying to buy good behavior. We should never be coerced into paying protection money. That is what the entire Middle East is doing. They are simply shaking us down by offering good behavior. Paying Danegeld is stupid.

Agree 100%.
Its no surprise that Obama is pandering to our enemies-all of his predecesors did the same-he is simply continuing the self defeating cycle that began with foreign policy going back at least 50 years.
It would have been nice if his calls for 'change' translated to how we deal with our enemies.
Ive come to believe that the middle east is incapable of democracy as we know it. What seems to work best for them is hardline dictators who squash extremists-ensuring safety not only in their countries, but that also protects other countries like the US from extremists who are jealous of our way of life or have some twisted religious view that they feel justifies killing or harming others.
We've tried to make nice for far too long with these people. Now its time to do what's best for us. And that is simply walking away.
