When you also consider that news-talk has been the most listened to format in the country since 2008 after spending most of the previous two decades in second place (behind country), that is indeed an insignificant drop in the ratings, and especially since both formats are heard on more than 2,000 stations nationally, and both do very well in markets of many different sizes, and frequently with double-digit (10.0 and above) shares of the audience.

That doesn't mean that Mr. Limbaugh's audience is big. It just is bigger than other small audiences that commercial radio attract. A 30% drop is insignificant, because the number of members in his audience is insignificant.

The media audience is so fragmented that it is interesting that a 15 million person audience is seen as a large audience when you consider there are hundreds of million consumers of media out there.
