Therefore, I am throwing down my gauntlet at your quivering liberal feet. I hereby issue my challenge -- the Limbaugh Challenge: Listen to the show. Not for five minutes but for several hours: an hour a day for several days. Consider what he has to say -- the real policy material under the jokes and teasing bluster. Do what your intellectual keepers do not want you to do and keep an open mind. Ask yourself: What's he getting at? Why does he say the things he says? Why do so many people of goodwill -- like that nice Mr. Klavan -- agree with him?

The mainstream media (a.k.a. the Matrix) don't want you to listen to Limbaugh because they're afraid he'll wake you up and set you free of their worldview. You don't want to listen to him because you're afraid of the same thing.

Don't believe me? Well, then, gird your loins. Gather your courage. Accept the Limbaugh Challenge. See what happens.

I dare you.

Andrew Klavan is a contributing editor to City Journal. His novel for young adults, "The Last Thing I Remember," will be published next month by Thomas Nelson.

My father (now deceased) was a hardcore conservative. Whenever we were in his car, he'd have Limbaugh on. Even on long road trips. I've heard enough to say it isn't for me. No thanks.

I listened to Limbaugh until he attacked Chelsea Clinton for her looks. I lost all respect for him and Bill Clinton both. If it had been Harry Truman's daughter, Limbaugh would have to have gone into hiding.

He proved himself a cowardly, bullying SOB who cannot be trusted.

I made the mistake of turning on Lindbaugh a couple of years ago to hear his rants on Black Americans. Will NEVER go that route again..Has nothing to do with him being a Conservative, its the hate in his voice and rightous indignation. No thanks, i'll loose that challenge, where do i send my $1?

My family listened to Rush since I was a kid. I kept it up in college and afterward, but he lost me when:

1) He basically accused Colin Powell (you know the National Security Advisor, Sec. of State, Army General/Hero guy) of being a liar and saying his endorsement of Obama was all about race. To say that to an American hero (from the safety of a microphone no less) is a disgrace, and though I'm not in the army I was infuriated. I mean, where the hell does he get off saying that?

2) Oh and there was that time he was hoping people wouldn't vote for Obama at the last minute because he's black (The Bradley Effect)

3) And don't forget when he stuck up for those people at the Palin rallies.

4) And I almost forgot that he stuck up for Bush for years when he showed himself to not be a real conservative.

So no, If I want conservative media, I'll look elsewhere, thank you

I used to listen to him, but when I heard he traveled to a foreign country that's known for it's sex trade with children. How sick do you have to be to continue to listen?

I'm currently trying to develop enough resistance to listen to another couple of talk show hosts.
I have a quota for the amount of BS I can listen to, though - so no more Rush for me.
Last time I watched a clip he was making fun of Michael J Fox (parkinson's).

Oh Blahhh! like I haven't heard the drug pig before!

I listened for 5 minutes a couple of years ago and it turned my stomach...the lies, the hatred....I don't want to get sick again.....

SO, why don't YOU tune into Big Ed Schultz? Thom Hartmann????

Don't listen for just 5 minutes ...listen for a couple of hours...heck, call in and challenge them !!!! They do NOT screen their calls.....c'mon, I'll be listening for you , oh Brave One!

I recommend you don't call Stephanie Miller...you'll be shredded and spit out and everyone listening will be laughing their arses off!

I listen to many others...Rachel Maddow, Matthews, Olbermann, Brown, etc...although it is very hard to listen for more than 5 min. of only Bush bashing and them living in the past and not responding to present issues...

How else can you form your own ideas if you don't listen to what the other side has to say....

For me Hannity, Rush, Gingrich, etc...are the ones I agree with and I know you lefties hate it, but IMO they are most of the time right.
