facts are facts..he was wrong

married New York Congressman, Christopher Lee was accused of sending a topless image of himself(non pornographic) to a lady he encountered on Craigslist. Lee resigned.
I don't know why Chris Lee resigned. His resignation didn't seem warranted but that doesn't become the standard by which all others must now follow.

I know of no statute that making a false public accusation (not to the police) is a crime. It's not a crime to falsely tell the public that your account was hacked. Weiner made no statements or reports to law enforcement -- thus, no crime.

In total, lying per se is not a crime. Only lying to the police or under oath is a crime.
If you disagree, what's the relevant statutes?

I have one, I know what it looks like, and I don't think his will look much different, plus I don't care to see it.

PS: Like rapper Chris Brown had his penis on the net, someone sent it to me, I saw it, ok, I pressed delete button and continued what I was doing....yawn !!
I would do the same thing in this case also.

our media needs to be toned down already.

I hear ya. I could care less about the pics also. I also agree with you on the media.

Point is, he betrayed a trust that the VOTERS bestowed on him. It's JMHO. He needs to be held accountable for his actions.

When crimes against federal officials are committed (ie hacking of their accounts). the FBI who has the capability to conduct such an investigation and has the jurisdiction to do it is contacted

if he didnt report it to the fbi, then that is also a violation of ethiics

Hacking into private accounts, impersonating a federal elected official, and deleting evidence that may be subject to federal investigation are each criminal offenses. Failure to report suspected cybercrime is also a breach of House of Representatives rules.

1) Which House rule? The word "cyber" is not found anywhere in the 400+ page document.
2) The FBI was not involved as they were not asked to be involved.

I think the party caucus has more influence in ethics matters than in ordinary House business. And keep in mind that Rangel survived ethics convictions on something like 10 counts.

I'm sure the dems want Weiner gone - any no-name lib replacement will vote with Pelosi every time, just as Weiner does, so it's not like they're losing anything...
