"You've got to look at it in isolation," Pawlenty told reporters after his speech at the University of Chicago. "Did the tax cuts have a positive effect under Kennedy, Reagan, Bush the second? The answer is yes."
In a speech heavy on specifics, Pawlenty proposed a three-tier income tax system:
• The estimated 45 percent of U.S. households that did not pay income taxes in 2010 would see no change in their tax rates.
• Individuals would pay 10 percent tax on the first $50,000 of income. Couples earning $100,000 would also pay that rate.
• "Everything above that would be taxed at 25 percent," Pawlenty said.
He said he wants to cut business taxes from the current rate from 35 percent to 15 percent, and he called for dismantling vast pieces of the government.
"We can start by applying what I call the Google Test," he said. "If you can find a service or a good on Google or the Internet then the federal government probably doesn't need to be doing that good or service. The post office, the government printing office, Amtrak, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were all built for a different time in our country and a different chapter in our economy when the private sector did not adequately provide those services. That's no longer the case."

Pawlenty, I love you now

Liberals will hate him. The libs crave high unemployment, low wages, and high debt. They literally say that they will vote for Obama, even if he continues to fail miserably in his economic policies. They literally do not care about the quality of the president, as long as he is a democrat!

LOL! 5% annual growth....if there were 5% annual growth or any semblance of hope for 5% in the next 18 months, the economy would be busting out of the seams right now.

Pipe dreams and crack pots. That's the Pawlenty plan. Might as soon find the pot o'gold at the end of that rainbow there T-Paw!

More evidence that Pawlenty, just isn't a serious person at all.

Oh, good one. But I think I covered that under lame. Should have said... the lame and the ignorant. In this case... because Pawlenty and like know best.

False, that is the republican's wet dream and the way they like things. High unemployment? screw em'! They're plenty of workers in china to keep them rich. Minimum wage is too high for the right, needs to be lowered, plus debt and spending through the roof. Big oil, the rich and corporations can never have enough handouts and taxpayer funds.

Otherwise t-paw's plan is a joke. More tax breaks for the rich? how unexpected.

I remember Heritage Foundation selling the idea that with Bush tax cuts, the economy will grow at a pace, with low unemployment and the debt paid off by 2011. I'm sure that happened, and it wasn't until policies put after Jan 20, 2009 that the economic nightmare for this country began.

If he thinks 5% annual growth is good, and that he can just tell the economy to grow at that rate and it will, why didn't he just implement that in Minnesota when he was governor?
