Those are all celebrations for the purpose of celebrating, none of those are political or social events claiming to want rights. Nice try though.
There is no difference between a "Solstice Festival" sponsored by a government, and a Cinco de Mayo festival sponsored by a government. What "rights" is anyone claiming at a Cinco de Mayo festival?
My point is not to force anyone to stop anything, I'm simply questioning whether the current practices are working or if there might be a better way to get to the final goal.
As has already been said, as an Irish-American, I don't ask that the rest of America come out and celebrate St Patrick's day. Frankly its basically become nothing more than an excuse for all Americans to go out and get ****-drunk which is kind of sad since that really has zilch to do with St Patrick's day...
"Shoot, let's eat corned beef and cabbage and drink ourselves under the table and pretend like we're Irish for a day!!!"
Let's stop and ask ourselves how respectful that TRULY sounds?

I'm having the same reaction. I'm wondering what the OP believes blacks and gays have done to him that has resulted in so much anger and bitterness.
