Did it start with FDR? Or did it begin at the inception of the country?

I was gonna say 1913 but in reality the banksters grip on our country was never relinquished and you can trace it all the way back to the First and Second Bank of the United States! Hamilton was a trader and in bed with the bankers. Jackson as the first and only President to ever pay off the national debt! Its nice to see someone on here that knows their monetary history.

Do you really think lawmakers were going to pass laws that screwed them? Slavery was a special interest group, and their "lobby" was one reason it was legal under the constitution.

I think it's always been there but not in big numbers until FDR came along and started all the social programs.

Special interests have been around as long as the US. What's changed is the power of the Federal government to fulfill those interests.

It didn't start with just the bankers, there was also the railroad industry, basically when companies found out that the government could give them money or use laws against the American public is when it all started... it started out corrupt and whadayaknow... it is still just as corrupt...

It began when Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence while still continuing to own other human beings as slaves, and it's been downhill every since. I don't know why we even bother with the charade of elections any more. Everyone knows that Congress always goes to the highest bidder.
