But the essence of decentralized communication may have been fantasized by someone in another country, so of course we must give them the credit!

The Wright Brothers were the first to create a machine that would fly under its own power. Before them, there were gliders, balloons, and blimps.

Don't be so quick to dismiss American ingenuity. The telegraph, the cotton gin, the modern electric stoplight, and tons of other things that we use in our everyday lives were invented in the United States.

Porn was around long before the United States was around. Some of the goddess statues found at Lascaux and Altamira have been thought to have been porn by some archaeologists. Not to mention many Greek vases clearly are pornographic, and the historical records show there was pornography in ancient Greece.

Of course you leave out the phonograph, telegraph, telephone, burning fluid, Newhouse trap, Colt's revolvers, early repeating rifles such as the Winchester, the circular blade for cutting lumber, and on it goes. A little browsing of U.S. patent records might give you an idea of how much innovation has come out of American minds.
Sure he invented a light bulb. It was Tesla that created the light bulb that could be quickly mass produced and it was also Tesla who founded AC current. You can throw in the AC motor to while you're at it and everything that came with it, including refrigeration and water transport.

I do not know if they actually invented Scotch. However, I am even now (Friday evening, you know) investigating it thoroughly.
