hey conservatives/republicans, before you vote in the above poll, please be aware it is not an anonymous poll. ....the choices that say "please elaborate" ask you to elaborate in order to keep the poll accurate.

left-wingers: please don't vote. thank you.

i'll be the first to vote. this is a multiple choice poll meaning you aren't restricted to one statement.

Hell no. Huge difference. I respect the working poor just as much as the working rich.

There is no difference. They are all part of the class properly excluded from the aristocracy because they simply do not have or control enough money, land or investment. They are also excluded from the economy and politics for the same reason. We also keep them out of the Ivy League to avoid having our children bring one home. The reason for their impoverishment is irrelevant but the fact of it is not.

I respect the working poor however, I think there are reasons for the non-working poor. Some are out of work because they are disabled and unable to work or elderly - I can understand their reasons for being out of work and poor.

The bloodsucking drug addicts, able bodied young and lazy, deadbeats, criminals, people with 10 kids, illegals - I don't have respect for.

Drug addiction is a disease, with innumerable causes. Deadbeats is slang for all the other things you're mentioning, and criminals often steal due to lack of economic opportunity. Regardless, what's the difference between the banker making huge stacks of cash thanks to his unethical/illegal influence over the political system and a petty thief stealing money for food? The difference is, the latter affects FAR fewer people with his criminal enterprise than the former.

The people with 10 kids? Yeah, that's statistically significant.

I don't believe drug addiction is a disease. Drug addiction is an excuse to have a disease.

The difference...

The Banker has a job he's paid to do by a private entity he's not riding off my tax dollars. You seem to think that all bankers are corrupt, so I guess you're a closet communist/socialist.

Nobody mentioned anything about a petty thief stealing for food - I guess that would lump him into the criminal deadbeat category. I'm not too keen on the criminals. If he's able bodied and intelligent he should get a job.

Obviously there is a different.I know people from column A and column B and while I won't comment on them personally it's a tough world out there when you work full time and are still considered poor.
