I wound up poor for the last 3 years and I dont feel sorry for me either.work is slow but life is good, more time fishing and stuff.I qualify for nothing not even unemployment so grab what I can when I can. Not being in debt was always my lifestyle and worth it
I dedicated two years of my life to the Peace Corps and served in Panama and Haiti. I saw families ration eggs and peanuts for days. Children crying from hunger pains, no shoes walking in mud living in mud huts on the floor, drinking diseased water. It softened me as a man, but made me bitter towards those in THIS COUNTRY who are healthy, able bodied and still choose to remain poor.

That is, perhaps, the only valid reason for such a stance.
I have been poor for the past two years. I don't feel sorry for me either. I have been trying to tutor and stuff like that, but haven't found steady work. I don't want anyone's sympathy. I know that the majority of the poor on this planet are much, much worse off than me. Even though I have been poor, I try to tithe 10% of my income to my church or a favorite charity because I want to help those who don't even have access to clean drinking water.
I hope I find more steady work because I would LOVE to help more. I do feel sorry for the poor in Africa who have to walk miles to drink dirty water.

What about those who are poor because they decided to have 5 kids when they only make enough money to raise one child?
