Isn't that what is being done now with asking for some cuts before increasing the deficit ceiling? We need to be accountable for what we are spending and for the huge deficit we are placing on future generations.

Also looking for results. America's war on poverty has failed. Money poured into education sytem has not improved test scores, just made a union richer and more politically connected. Medicare and SS are going bankrupt. Medicaid is unsutainable in most states and will worsen as more are added to the rolls from Obamacare.

Clearly the results aren't there, hence the need to look at the possibility of redesigning some govt programs to make them more effective.
