HERE'S A SHOCKER: Republican States Have The Best Public Schools In The Country, By A Long Shot

There are some on here who love to compare the blue and red states for perceived superiority by the blue states so I found this gem just for them.

For some reason this was already posted in the Connecticut forum.

Note that the source for this claim is actually traced back to a Newsweek article. From the looks of the ranking, Newsweek gave more weight to Advanced Placement tests and less weight to SAT scores.

And all that the article proves is that every state has a low number of exceptional schools while saying absolutely nothing about the quality of the school systems in each state.

But hey, if that's all you've got, run with it.

You should definitely read some of the comments below the article. Apparently, the way they came up with this list is rather ridiculous. Some of the 'top performing schools' had graduating classes of less than 20...

Don't take this article at face value.

You're right it is a shocker. Shocking that you think people will buy that sack of bogus goods.

As an example, I know of many hardcore-Red counties and towns in Texas, with some of the poorest, dumbest, hick, hillbilly schools you can imagine.

OP - I just shot down and destroyed your argument....

Not to mention the fact that a few outperforming individual high schools do not make up an average for a state.

Yep, they're almost as dumb as intercity schools in blue states.

Oops, am I racist for that?

Fortunately I never had to care what color states or even what states had "the best" anything. I live where I live and found "the best" where I was. And they were pretty danm good.
