Congratulations! Showers of blessings! Mazel Tov with a schmear!

I am so happy for all of you, and all of us in NY with LGBT friends and family members.

Let the spontaneous shouts of happiness spread through the land! May you all live in a haven of peace, kindness and love.

And let's make sure to reward Gillibrand and Cuomo in the next election.

The economy of New York will surely flourish -- the receptions, the gowns and tuxes, the wedding registries (!!), honeymoon destinations....wow

(I posted a little congrats on another thread, but this needs its own thread)

Maybe you should read more, Chamataka.

+1. My brother and his partner are currently residing in NY. I wonder if they're considering anything.

I also support gay rights and see this as progress. I was also surprised recently when a poll indicated that 53% of Americans also support the rights of gay people. Despite the rants from the far right religious people like Michele Bachmann (who unfortunately is rising in the Republican poll numbers) I see this as a long term trend and at some point in the future a person's sexual orientation won't even be an issue.

Personally I am disappointed that it's only 53%.
