Special assistant to George W. Bush and conservative author has changed his mind.

Quote:
The short answer is that the case against same-sex marriage has been tested against reality. The case has not passed its test. Since 1997, same-sex marriage has evolved from talk to fact. If people like me had been right, we should have seen the American family become radically more unstable over the subsequent decade and a half. By the numbers, in fact, the 2000s were the least bad decade for American family stability since the fabled 1950s. And when you take a closer look at the American family, the facts have become even tougher for the anti-gay marriage position.

How would it even work that a 15-year-old girl in Van Nuys, California, becomes more likely to have a baby because two men in Des Moines, Iowa, can marry? Maybe somebody can believe the connection, but I cannot.

I find it funny that when elected officials and their underlings leave office, they suddenly grow a backbone.

And they conveniently decide to "do the right thing" only when it becomes broadly popular.

Such courage...

The only people who really fear gay marriage are older generations. As older generations pass on, this really won't even be an issue. The tide is already turning on gay marriage and will probably be legal in most states within the next few decades.

Exactly. Now 53% of Americans support gay marriage, and as the elderly bigots die, it will become more and more accepted by the general population. Can't wait.
