Is the individual equal to the mob? In no physical way or amount of resources, but one of this nation's principals is to level the field between the two.
When I talk about equality, I'm almost always referring to equal application of law by the government.

It certainly worth the effort to try to achieve some measure of equality, whether that is by opportunity or even by outcome...

But the rich take and take and will never stop taking. Using ignorant chumps who don't know any better to do their bidding. Incredible debt, and they won't give one more penny, even though they're far richer than they've ever been in history.
Within a decade, there will be riots in the streets here.
I'm not as worried about science being manipulated as I am about our laws and our culture.
"Equality" is a nice ideal, but it's unrealistic. While I don't believe that discrimination should be written into our laws, I do believe that people and businesses should have a right to choose who they associate with.

I agree with that to a point.
Of course, it's very easy to espouse such a view when you belong to a group that has not historically faced any discrimination....and can therefore surmise that they aren't likely to face any either.
My problem isn't with free association by people, but when businesses get involved, that makes me squeamish. And for good reasons (historically).

The great American entrepreneur Henry Ford understood that America had to have a vibrant and decently paid stable middle class, or else the rich who owned the capital wouldn't have any market for their goods.
Desperate people who have little hope turn to violence. This is the pattern of history, and it's playing out all over the Middle East right now.
Once all these right wingers see in a few years that they've been played for chumps and have no money, no health care, no job, an underwater mortgage, no decent education for their kids, basically no hope, it's gonna get ugly. But it'll be too late. The rich will have guards and gates and all the money in offshore tax havens.
