I don't have to assume anything, it makes an ass out of you and me.
I don't read studies unless they are thorough, or I try not to anyway.
But you ARE assuming now, that the harvard study is talking about canceling the 4th of July celebration because of the threat of fire/finances or what not......
Democratic political candidates can skip this weekend's July 4th parades. A new Harvard University study finds that July 4th parades energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.
"Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation's political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party," said the report from Harvard.
You do realize that people besides liberals just stuff their faces on July 4th too, don't you? This liberal is going to Charlottesville to the home of one of the greatest minds of the Revolution--Jefferson. Then I'm going to Washington where I hope to get a look at the founding documents, major memorials and such.
Did I mention that I'm a liberal? And damn proud of the United States.

"Our findings are significant:
one Fourth of July without rain before age 18 increases the likelihood of identifying as a Republican at age 40 by 2 percent........"
Using that kind of logic, most of Southern California should be republican.
Hey, all I did was post something that came from the college the president came from?
Uhm...Maybe its you that should have not only read the link but did a little research. The so called study did NOT come from Harvard University. Google is your friend. Every Link directs you to a right wing site. I could find absolutely nothing that directs me to the Harvard University studies page that requires you to pay $79 for a copy of their study. Good Lawd
I've never celebrated 4th of July. It's just a holiday to sleep late and do something interesting. Fire works? So what! I also don't believe in god, greed, selfishness, war, xenophobia, or nationalism.
And you can bite into your carpet with rage!
Whoa! Better watch it or Michelle (McCarthy) Bachmann (with a really big B) will have you investigated!!! The Repugs are slavering in hopes she wins so the "traitors " will be burned at the stake!!! Or put on a list! or something...

If it doesn't say that they broke it down by states, or the reasons, then its not assuming that it doesn't say that.
I'm saying that its an incomplete study, until I see evidence otherwise. My personal first hand views are that when I was up north, there was more celebration, and that was more of a liberal area. Back down south, fireworks shows are expensive and few communities buy them.
