US citizens in Mexico are granted the same rights (by the same treaty). The US not adhering to this law could have negative consequence on US citizens in Mexico. Obama is simply doing his job as the chief law enforcement officer of the US.
You do realize that in San Antonio they signed a law which stated arresting officers could not question a person's immigration status, so naturaly they didn't

Shame on him.
Because the raping and bludgeoning to death of a minor female isn't egregious enough. One has to wonder if his actions in attempting to appease Mexico (and likely La Raza) by staying the execution of a convicted murderer, who happens to also be an illegal alien, would be the same had that girl been one of his own daughters?

Looks like an ILLEGAL alien isn't an ILLEGAL ALIEN when he's stealing a job from an American - they call them UNDOCUMENTED CITIZENS.

But he miraculously becomes an ILLEGAL ALIEN when they rape, and murder an innocent American.

Amazing huh? Flippin' Amazing!

If it were not for inconsistent immigration policy Obama would have no immigration policy at all. He certainly doesn't uphold our current immigration laws nor does his AG Holder or head of ICE, or DHS.

Bush could have written it up real quick like Obama just did, but he didn't because he knew it would be a scumbag move. Why didn't Obama have this written up when he first got into office knowing that this was an issue? Was it because he was ALREADY elected? Yep! They are trying to get THIS case over turned and you know it. Why else would the WH say that THIS NEW legislation will affect THIS case? If it will have ZERO affect on this case, why wait six months? So his consulate can say "sucks to be you"?

No details in many articles. I'd like to know who is sponsoring this since this sounds like NWO stuff with the State Dept and United Nations involved.

White House seeks delay of Mexican man's execution - USATODAY.com

"President Obama's administration took the unusual step of intervening in a state murder case when it asked the Supreme Court last week to delay Leal's execution for up to six months. The U.S. solicitor general told the court that Congress needed time to consider legislation that would allow federal courts to review cases of condemned foreign nationals to determine if the lack of consular help made a significant difference in the outcome of their cases.
The legislation, backed by the U.S. State Department and the United Nations..."

Its a bit of a Catch 22.

On the one hand, arresting officers are not allowed to ask a suspect immigration status or nationality on the other hand, the USA has entered into treaty obligations which mean that a non-US national has to be given Consular access if arrested.

Hello!!!!!! The US IS in comliance with the treaty AS IT WAS WRITTEN! This was written in 1963, why did it take so long to find any of this out? I don't think it was a mistake at all, it was purposely written the way it is.
