The questions is this - why are government bureacats so frickin paranoid about pot-smokers? Is there a reason to fear them? Is your average pot-smoker also a serial killer? Is he the Baseline killer? Is he/she as dangerous as fricking Casey Anthony? Why doesn't the government learn how to use the tqxpayer's money constructively for a change, instead of using it to kill civillians and incarcerate pot-smokers?

"The US economy is rapidly unraveling, vital services are being cut, and millions of Americans are losing their jobs and struggling just to survive.

Meanwhile, the federal government continues to spend billions of taxpayer dollars every year to fight its endless "War on Drugs," which includes spending about $7.7 billion a year just on enforcing marijuana laws, and preventing sick and injured patients from accessing this natural, side effect-free treatment for their ailments."

US spends billions every year prosecuting marijuana violations while economy tanks

Because the Drug War is a massive campaign to increase Federal power, circumvent constitutional protections, and protect the profits of Big Health and Big Pharma, while infiltrating into every aspect of citizen's lives.

The worse the economy gets, the more citizens will get angry about the massive taxation and confiscation of wealth by Big Government, combined with the ruination of the (former) Middle Class by Big Business, supported by Big Government. There MUST be an all-powerful centralized government that can squelch any potential rebellion or calls for control on all-powerful and all-pervasive Big Government.

Not a single other nation has the mindless legal micro-control of every time of medication. This is probably a result of the efforts of the organized (and extremely profitable) Health and Big Pharma industries. Their profits are God. The examples of profit over EVERYTHING are beyond the pale. For instance, complications resulting from excessive weight kill over 500,000 Americans every year. Long ago Europe, and eventually America, realized that two cheap and generic drugs (an appetite suppressant and a metabolism booster) made weight problems a thing of the past. However this was a threat to the multi-billion dollar diet industry (which is completely ineffectual, but expensive), and the drugs were already generic and so huge profits couldn't be made on them. The solution? Not only outlaw the drugs themselves, based on false claims of a handful of heart problems (compared to the half a million deaths a year due to excessive weight)--but outlaw ALL the drugs in those classes!

The profits of the diet industry, which has a 0% success rate, are now again assured. Likewise the profits of the health care industry, dealing with societal weight problems. How nice to know we had a cheap and easy solution to the worst preventable health problem facing us, but it had to be sacrificed on the alter of profits chasing pointless voodoo cures.

I have no doubt that cancer and heart problems could have been cured long ago, but the cures would have been outlawed since they would interfere with profits.

I wish I could believe in religion, since the deepest levels of Hell would be a fitting eternal punishment for the crimes of American industry profit-mongers and other immoral, unethical and basically evil people.

Yes, corporations and corporate profits come before the interests of citizens for sure. An example is Stevia - a natural sweetner banned by the FDA because they would rather force you to use Aspartame which is known to cause cancer.

Nixon really increased the war against marijuana users. He had an agenda to rid the country of those who opposed him, and pot smokers were highly likely to oppose him. And how easy when you can literally arrest anyone for pot, even if you have to plant contraband on them. I think there's just been continued momentum from that.
