I think the Constitution and America is fine the way it is. Why do these people want to change America?

Our founding fathers have never called specifically for balanced budgets.

The constitution has been changed before. Why would it be a bad amendment?

Likely had this POTUS and his 100% Democrat controlled Congress during his first 2 years in office fulfilled their responsibility this wouldn't be an issue. Irresponsibility in spending more than revenues and failure to balance the budget has brought us to this proposed Amendment.

It is really not a radical idea; after all, 49 states have balanced budget amendments in their constitutions. Back during the time this country was founded the "general welfare" clause had not been prostituted and twisted as an excuse to grow the federal government beyond the means of the population and beyond the scope of power enumerated to it in the Constitution. Now it has and thus the debt we are experiencing today.

Maybe its because they are sick of Washington spending money like there is no end to it. Sounds like a good idea to me. A bigger question is why would anyone not be for a balanced budget?

I think a balanced budget amendment is a terrible idea because there are times when it is necessary to run deficits like right now. I think the Tea Party should stop trying to change America with their radical ideas.

An amendment is a change or addition or clarification to the original text of the constitution - 27 over the past 235 years.
I think a balanced budget amendment would be a welcome addition. It's been cooking in the oven for a long. long time.

Fiscal responsibility is only a radical idea to those on the far left who despise responsibility and accountability in government. Be glad the debt ceiling is not a traditional style American Express card where all debt is due and payable all at once. Our government needs to learn that if they cannot afford it, they should not borrow to finance it.

Tough love is the only way to save this nation.
