These people are NOT conservatives. They are irresponsible partisan hacks. For example Bachmann flatly said she will not vote to raise the ceiling no matter what. She is refusing to pay the bills, and if that is a conservative principle, then conservatism has been perverted beyond recognition.

McCain is right. He said GOP is lying to Americans, and he is right. They are lying.
The ONLY lies are coming out of you fear mongers (yes .. I consider you to be one) is the LIE that this fight is all about 'paying our bills'!

We take in around 200 BILLION a MONTH and our so called bills come in at around 175 BILLION a month!

This fight is about giving these Socialists MORE to spend as they see fit. (Usually on vote purchasing)

Now it seems like the GOP is coming apart with Bohner losing control and McCain calling the tea party reps 'hobbits'. It is amazing the GOP thinks that the Congress alone can amend the constitution. Their balanced budget proposal is not for the Congress to decide since it has to be approved by the States, and the process takes 8-10 years. Do we have 8-10 years to resolve this problem? No. They are holding a gun on the head of Lady Liberty and they will pay the price. They must pay a price. I am embarrassed I voted for GOP in the mid terms.

Is refusal to pay your bills a conservative principle? These people are not conservatives, they are partisan fools.
So how is it that everybody else was headed for the Gang of Six centrist proposals with real revenue raisers that would actually increase tax collections by fixing the tax code--and Obama cannot stop talking about "corporate jet owners?" The president broke up the middle ground compromise with his steadfast, non-negotiable stance on counterproductive class warfare taxes. Reid, Boehner, McConnell were all heading the right direction, then Obama got to Reid, who changed his tune. The blame for the last ten day's mess lies at Obama's feet.

The gang of six proposal is from last December and GOP rejected it already back then.

He has been very untruthful and scaring the medicare voters with this crisis. Looks like we have enough in the can to pay our bills after all but this gentleman acts like the world will end. He just wants a blank check and no issues for his reelection.

While President Obama and Republican lawmakers squabble over how to cut spending in the 2012 budget, a bipartisan group of six senators is preparing to unveil their own proposal to reduce the nation's massive deficit soon after Congress returns from its two-week spring recess.

If we default and the economy tanks... the left will blame the right, the right will blame the left but one person will take the biggest political hit, the POTUS!. He has to lead and he's not doing that, not yet.. perhaps he's planning on a last second hail mary....

The point is that many of the folks who check their bank accounts every day to make sure they have enough money for gas or groceries wont see the Senator from Nevada on their ballots come Nov of 2012 and they wont see the Congressman from Ohio on their Ballot but the POTUS will be there.. and if things don't turn around before then, the POTUS will pay a heavy price for the bickering we see today!

Obama has to LEAD.. if he would just lead many of the middle ground folks would follow him. But if he doesn't some one else will convince the every day folks that they can....

The guy said he'll compromise, but compromise doens't mean that one side gets everything it wants while the other gets nothing. The group of 6 proposal was 3 parts tax cuts to 1 part tax increases. Republicans won't go for that. The deal is 3 parts what Republicans want, 1 part what Democrats want and the tea baggers in the House would prefer to default. Tell me again who's fault it is?
Obamas.

Close, I seriously you're going to comprehend this, but you have to know on the surface that what you're saying is false, right? I've heard some others say it, so I know it must come from Limbaugh, Beck or one of the other fantasist, but no credible expert agrees. All say this is false. Let's put that aside though. Let's just use logic.

If we take in 200 billion a month, but only need 175 billion a month -- that would mean we have a surplus of 25 billion a month. Kac-hing! We're going to wipe out this debt in no time. Am I right?!? Oh wait, I'm not right? We keep piling debt on?

So this must mean that we need more than what we take in to meet our obligations. What you're saying is akin to this -- my credit card bill only comes to $1,750 a month, and I take in a whopping $2,000 a month. What's the problem? Well, do you eat? Do you pay rent? Do you need electricity? Gas?

Are you getting the picture?

Forgive me if I ignore you from now on. I do not find the personal stabs appropriate.

Have a nice day.

Yep, we'd be in pretty good shape if those numbers were right.

I think the bipartisan deficit panel plan from December was the best. It would have cut spending by $4T and close the loopholes while lowering corporate tax.
