You have to admit, the government went a little too far to help their union buddies.
Unions or not . . . the whole thing was reprehensible and an over-reach of authority where no authority existed. Private corporations are under the legal authority of the state in wh/ they are incorporated, and the internal operations are under the jurisdiction of corporate bylaws.

There would be no "trying" sanrene, they'd just do it. And it would be tied up in the courts or something for years... meanwhile, the deed is done. It's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission, or something along those lines.

You're right though. Obama respects the rule of law too much to do this. If this were many, many other presidents (including GWB, I think), they'd just do it.

You call the taking over of GM, Firing the CEO of said company .. Taking the profits of the stock holders and paying off the Union Thugs ..'Respect' for the law?

What about 'Respect' for State law (Arizona for instance).

Refusing to enforce "Constitutional Law" and filing suit on behalf of Mexico and Illegal Aliens because Arizona wants to Protect it's borders!

THAT is Respect for Law?

Obama is waiting until the last day to use this power because it's a fail safe mechanism.

If anyone tries to challenge him, it will have to be after Aug 2 and they won in court, they would take full responsibility for the downfall of our economy.

With that being said, NO ONE will challenge it. If Obama used this power last week, he would have faced opposition because there would have still been time.

This is my prediction of what will happen.

...and I hope I'm right!
how will he 'use' the 14th

the 14th ACKNOWLEDGES and VALIDATES the debt...says NOTHING about raising a debt ceiling

you guys are grasping at straws

First, Rick Wagoner, the former chairman and CEO of General Motors, stepped down on the behest of the Obama administration, and he agreed. He was not fired. Thus, the claim that Obama didn't have the legal authority for fire him is moot.

Second, you are right, what you claimed was not spin. It was only misinformation.

hmmm. In the wake of the Norway idelogical murders, these type of statements will probably get some investigation, as they should. 1st amendment does not protect speech of this nature. People that make these types of statements should not be surprised to find guys with nice suits and thick necks knocking on their door. Just saying.

*laughing*

This is what the tea party people and whackos on this board fear Obama is going to do...

He will be on live television addressing the nation, sitting at his desk in the oval office. He starts blabbing on and on. He says "excuse me ladies and gentlemen" and digs out of his back pocket a little pocket guide to the US Constitution, with a picture of "Bill" on it.

He reads the 14th amendment and proclaims loudly

"I am taking over this country in the name of Socialism and Workers Everywhere!"

We switch to a CNN or FOX feed of tanks rolling into the streets shooting at anyone in their way. Old ladies with their copies of the constitution in one hand and a shot gun in the other yelling "not over my dead body"

HAHAHA
