Did the constituents of tea party candidates want to risk an international panic? Did they want to tie up the financial operations of the government so only debt and bonds would be paid off? Did they want to create a stock market dive that has already lost close to 600 points this week---and many more next with the comedic farce now underway?
Did their constituents want a phony balanced budget ammendment which will take years, at least, to be ratified while Rome burns??
The dye is cast---the zealots have intended to create a default all along, and if the country dives in the process, it is no big consequence to them. They are out to have their solution, irrespective of the polls which show 70% of the country feels they are off base.
Ok teazealots----lets have your default. According to your leaders the claims of a stock market dive, a US credit downgrade, international financial markets becoming very nervous, and a potential US recession are all phony claims. Lets play it your way---bring on the default.
You can than attempt to pin the blame game, and those with any common sense will laugh.
The bottom line is----you will ensure Obamas reelection and also the teabags having an expiration date.

I am not at all a liberal ----perhaps a moderate who believed that the legisltive leaders of this nation had enough common sense and creativity to avoid any self indulgent disasters. Now that Dirty Harry Reid and his people own the right to keep us from defaulting are you still blaming the Republicans? Oh yes, the Dems voted to a member to table the bill from the House today. What time on Sunday do you think they will vote on their own bill that should have been written long ago. Will they manage to keep Geithner and Obama from defaulting or not? What will Obama do with whatever the Senate sends him? Will he veto it because it is not 100% Democrat written as were his two signature bills, Stimulus and Obamacare? Oh yes he needs bills like that that went through without any Republican votes at all.
Tea Partiers are like if the five gay students in the classroom who demand all the others in the room who demand all to adopt their lifestyle and world view. They are a minority, but you would never know it by their actions. EVERYONE should think just like them, or they will blow a gasket. What is admirable about that?
For once we have politicians actually standing by what they campaigned for and doing what the people who elected them want to be done. What do they get for it? Lambasted by both the Democrats and now Republicans because they won't lay over and sign off on this BS mess that is being offered up. So for not joining the fools running our country I say kudos to them. Keep up the good job. Anytime you get both sides (well they're one in the same actually) squealing at you means your not doing THEIR bidding but the bidding of the people. Odd isn't it they're actually doing what they're supposed to and that just makes no sense at all to those in power.

Reid and McConnell will be smart enough to craft a bill that will get through the Senate. Then the ball is back in the court of the House. Boehner can grumble about it, but his choice is to work to pass it and count whatever compromise was written into it as a victory or not get it passed and be the one to take the heat for whatever happens afterward. As far as the 60 Tea Party people, they can go off in a corner and chant or throw rocks or whatever. They can be marginalized. The 217 votes needed can come from the 375 House members, both Democrats and Republicans, who are not Tea Party Caucus members.

The debt ceiling has been raised over 30 times....its nothing, its not big deal...it has NOTHING to do with our INCURRING new debt. Raise the ceiling then get the Heck back to what you were put into office to do ACCORDING TO YOU!!!! JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, AND JOBS. That was your mandate. this debt ceiling red herring is to keep the Prez from being able to concentrate on jobs because the conversation keeps getting hijacked. We can cut spending, we can raise taxes, we can figure out the entitlement programs seperatly from the debt ceiling all in the next year before the election.....it doesn't and can't be taken care of in the couple days we have left and the house knows it won't get past the Senate. Its political theatre...nothing more.

Surely you jest. Take a look at every single time the debt ceiling has been raised. The debt level quickly reaches the ceiling, and then it must be raised again. Did you even stop to think WHY it has been raised "30" times?

If it's not a big deal then why does dirty harry reid keep screaming DOA all the time? It seems Obama and Boehner had this thing hashed out a few weeks back and then dirty harry and san fran nan stuck their noses into it.
