Sounds like more smoke and mirrors than anything else.

"Tea Party members are inhuman demons who have taken human form. Their political goals include:
1.) The destruction of this nation
2.) The destruction of every other nation
3.) A slow tortured death of every human on the planet.
4.) Killing every life form on the planet
5.) Pushing the earth into the sun and ending the planet entirely"

I certainly don't agree with them on everything, but the Tea Party just accomplished something that's actually pretty big against the odds. With a sitting Democrat President, Democrat controlled Senate and old school Republicans fighting them, they still managed to turn raising the debt ceiling from routine standard operating procedure to a major battleground. When you can't win the large victory, you take the small victories as they come. And they managed to hold the line on not raising taxes.

And enough TP'ers in the House voted against that it the measure couldn't pass without the Democrats and old school Republicans joining forces. Without 1/2 of the Dems in the House voting "yes" where would we be?

For the past several months, the liberal media outcry has been, "The Tea Party wants to destroy America!! They're insane terrorists who will stop at nothing to forward their agenda! We're all gonna die!!!" So now we change gears from, "The nation will collapse and it's all the Tea Party's fault!" to "Ha! You betrayed your ideals and now your movement is going to evaporate!"

It's a lot of wishful thinking and not much else. America's media sources ignored the Libertarian Party for decades and pretended they didn't exist, and that's why you have the Tea Party. The ideas of a balanced budget, smaller government and lower taxes sound pretty good to just about anyone.

I think the "traitors to the cause" will redeem themselves.

The RINO's are going to rely on the Tea Party to make a move on the White House and Senate in 2012. Its a prediction. The enemy of my enemy is my friend wisdom is very applicable in this current political climate.

Wait and See. The Tea Party leaders are all yelling and screaming in public. What do you think their private phone calls with McConnell and Boehner are like.

LOL you Democrats have been played with your own game.

Impossible. I have been reliably informed - on this very board - that the TPers are a loose conglomerate formed around a shared ideology, not an organization that has any power to enforce political decisions, far less to accept responsibility.

What lesson is that?

That runaway spending and fiscal irresponsibility coupled with an Ostrich mentality are OK????

That the Bush/Obama machine can continue to sell us out??

Who do you think will wind up with the tab for our governments debt?

You have a brain, use it.

Yea why should we elect politicians if they are going to keep their word.
Lying can be good for a relationship, right? YES I Can!!!!

It is amazing the amount of people on this forum who are against someone keeping their word. The best part is the ones who back up known liars and the uninformed who say disaster will hit if the ceiling isn't raised. Too funny. They believe the same people who have given us the horrific economic advise, put us in this depression and kept us in it have the answers.
When the problem is you are obesity you do not eat more and more food. When the problem is debt you do not incur more and more debt.

Disagree with policy sure, belittle someone for keeping their word? priceless
