The Shabab Islamist insurgent group, which controls much of southern Somalia, is blocking starving people from fleeing the country and setting up a cantonment camp where it is imprisoning displaced people who were trying to escape Shabab territory.
The group is widely blamed for causing a famine in Somalia by forcing out many Western aid organizations, depriving drought victims of desperately needed food. The situation is growing bleaker by the day, with tens of thousands of Somalis already dead and more than 500,000 children on the brink of starvation.

LOL. To hear liberals say it Christians are evil and Muslims are just misunderstood but I'm not seeing the Muslims having the apocalyptic fit the Left is having over not getting food to these people.

We've been starving Somalis to death in order to give rich obese spoiled Americans a false sense of security. It's not about Somalis, it's about US, "fearing the lawless country could become a new safe haven for Al-Qaeda and other Islamic extremist networks" that are a threat to US, not to Somalis.

Absolutely correct, Ferd. There are thousands of Islamic charities that have been generously trying to help Somalis, but the US has frozen or confiscated their assets and criminalized donations to them.
Those Islamist guys seem a bit like the Tea Party to me. Screw their fellow citizens to make a point, let them starve if they don't see things the "right" way. Go around holding up guns and acting all badazz....
