The White House says the multiyear $814 billion stimulus program passed by Congress in 2009 boosted employment by 2.5 million to 3.6 million jobs and raised the nation's annual economic output by almost $400 billion. A recent study by two prominent economists generally agrees, crediting the pump-priming with averting "what could have been called Great Depression.

Economists agree: Stimulus created nearly 3 million jobs - USATODAY.com

Of course the Republicans will never admit that they are attempting to bury the facts and their base is so gullible that when facts bite them on the butt, they don't recognize them.

Republican Economic Sabotage Continues

The firesale of budget-cuts and layoffs that we are witnessing across the nation at the state level are taking place now primarily because the stimulus funds which kept those states afloat have, for the most part, dried up. Some states, such as Florida, are still including stimulus funds in their budgets while their respective governors also claim that the stimulus didn’t work. If that’s truly the case, can we have the money back?

If the stimulus really didn’t work, unemployment would currently be northwards of 12% or more, not 9%. The only true failing of the stimulus program is that it wasn’t big enough.

Construction and other temporary jobs that will blow away like a fart in the wind when the stimulus money stops flowing.
When will Democrats realize that the government can only create government jobs?

Obama and democrats:Blame Bush when they were i sontrolo of congress since Bush's second mid-term; now balme repuvlicans for their failures when they had both houses and the presidency.Basically the stimulus was just what the elite i the left inteended it to be ;moanies to keep the speical interest who helped Obama get eclected employed thru its length. I am surprised they don;t count unemployment as jobs;myself.

Why are you going back and posting links a year old? Trying to distract from current situations in order to make it appear things arent as they are?

What the hells the point of the thread other than to display how lefties cant face facts and have to keep repeating talking points because there have been numerous reports to show that it actually COST 1M jobs.

Really ignorant to insinuate that because the link is not from yesterday that it is not true. How long has the right been decryng that the stimulus did not work? You are the one that is being disingenuous.

Funny how you do not address the fact that the right wing is destroying and sabotaging the economy by presenting not one jobs bill and going on vacation while the we have an FAA shutdown. You know full well that you are defending corruption and deceit. Shame on you.

That will come as news to Boeing, United Technologies, 100,000 scientist and researchers involved in basic research, Dell computers, and host of other companies that supply the federal government with expertise, supplies and equipment.
