I keep hearing that you shouldn't raise taxes during a recession or economic downturn because it will make the economy worse. Is this really true? Which U.S recessions were taxes raised and what were the results?
Barry Sotero said you don't raise taxes in a recession and I agree with him. Barry also voted, along with all his fellow dims, against raising the debt ceiling when Bush was president. I agree with that vote too.
So, what's happened that little Barry has had a come to Jesus moment???????

The Left is wedded to the idea that government spending is needed to lift out an economy out of a recession. The Right is wedded to not raising taxes during a recession. Both are theories with mixed historical results.
