It seems like if people could just turn off the Reality-Show-Vomiting Glowing Rectangle for just 15 BLEEPING MINUTES and do a quick scan of the voting records of incumbents and candidates then we wouldn't need term limits.

If you like what your guy or gal has done then you'd support 'em.

If you don't like what they've done then you will throw 'em out.

Simple as that.

If people TRULY hate what Congress has done (or not done) then the scammers in there now would have been sent packing many election cycles ago.

What's going on?

Throwing out someone that has only been in office for a few years is easy because you're not losing much, losing a 20 or 30 year veteran Congressman is a very big deal. As they gain power that itself becomes a factor in how people vote, people become reluctant to kill the golden goose even if they disagree with the way they are voting.

Add to the fact that too many people vote straight party ticket and term limits may be the only way to get those career politicians out.

Harry Reid is a good example. Many examples in the GOP as well.

But that is the price we all have to pay to get some fresh ideas in there.

Unfortunately, I can only vote for one person in Congress, not the other 434 that run my life.

we need to hold our representatives in congress to their promises that got them elected to office. unfortunately most people think that voting is all they have to do until the next election cycle rolls around.

the other problem we have is that political ads are filled with half truths and lies, and whoever can lie the best is usually elected.

But people don't want to pay that price in their own district. We just got rid of Kanjorski who was in office for almost 3 decades, he brought home the bacon. It's not a coincidence that these long term Congressman are the ones getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they are the ones that have the power to do it. He survived so many scandals it's ridiculous including one involving millions of dollars funneled to a company owned by his relatives, look up Cornerstone. That is a prime example of the power of being a long time incumbent, it was so blatant and out in the open it was almost comical that he could get reelected. If it wasn't for the GOP wave this last election he'd still be there.
