Another progressive intentionally missing the point. We were discussing the fact that "there are people that deal with crime" and that it's not the doctors and nurses "job" to report crime. I was just pointing out that they do it all the time.
FYI - crime is crime.
I don't share that view, there are huge differences between crimes.
Plus, there is a difference between not treating an illegal patient and reporting them.
When a doctor reports a gun shot victim, he probably does that on suspicion, not because the patient told them about why he has that wound. The doctor is free to report an illegal patient if that is what he suspects. But he should treat someone who needs treatment. After all, he does not send the gunshot victim away, just because he might be a gangster.
No, more like disgust and frustration that working people have to anti up more and really don't have that much more to give away.
I doubt the middle class envies the illegals.
They are frustrated that they have to pay to cover bills run up by people who, for all intents and purposes, should not be living in this country the way they are.
From what one reads here on CD, all the RWs envy the poor. They all want medicaid, food stamps, Section 8 and the like.

I don't know about gun shots, we don't get many (any?) such cases in our pediatric practice. We do not have to report dog bites, AFAIK. We are mandatory reporters for child abuse. We do not have to report "suspicious" people to immigration.
Some of you guys have no idea of how health care professionals think. We are supposed to care for the patient and not be concerned about his/her political status.

We're not an ER, so yes, we ask about the pay source. We have some private pay patients, as well as Medicaid and Tri-Care. We do work with people who have lost their jobs/insurance. What we don't do is ask about immigration status.

Illegal aliens are already getting free health care. All they have to do is show up in an emergency room and they get free health care. This has been going on for decades, as anyone familiar with the situation already knows. The point is that OBAMACARE is targeting illegal aliens and offering them free health care. We don't need more tax money thrown at illegal alien health care in this economic climate right now. This is purely a political move and a further waste of taxpayer money.
