DC tried to direct it into wasteful make work projects, but Perry managed to shoehorn it into the state Texas budget so that relatively little waste occurred. That's his signal achievement.

Is that what Perry told you? Did he at least tell you that he accepted federal money, or did you learn about it from other sources?

The Texas media is left-wing to a fault and has a long tradition of hammering away at conservatives. In Perry's case, the tendency is to treat him as a borderline retard who is simultaneously corrupt and conniving. The fact that Perry accepted stimulus money is not only no secret - most Texans on both sides of the ideological divide have no problem with it. After all, it's our money we're getting back.

And here comes "liberal media" rhetoric to the rescue.

My comment was merely for background. You can google articles in the Texas media about the fact that Perry did not object to accepting stimulus funds. It's no secret. In some ways, the Texas media is closer to the Nation in its political commentary than the NY Times. The NY Times doesn't need to show that it's liberal - everybody knows it. The Texas media has to try harder to impress the left-wing glitterati, which is why we get these screeds that look like they come right out of In These Times, Mother Jones or the Nation.

Googling or Binging will get you a variety of results. But, why waste time on what media tells you when you can hear and analyze for self?

Perry does not have the best economy. 8.2% unemployment. Highest percentage of people earning minimum wage.

There is no "federal money". They don't generate dollars. They just launder dollars.

He doesn't make the laws in DC, he just either takes or refuses money that lawmakers have doled out.
