Censorship is the suppression of speech or other public communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the general body of people as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body.

Political censorship occurs when governments hold back information from their citizens. This is often done to exert control over the populace and prevent free expression that might foment rebellion.

We have a candidate in the GOP Primaries who is consistently well received by live audiences and outperformed the majority of opponents in the recent Straw Polls wrapping them up with a second place finish in Iowa with less than 152 votes (less than a 1%) margin from the 1st place contender.

Jon Stewart

Despite this strong showing and his popularity with voters there is essentially a media blackout on this individual.

Is this right?

Do you agree or disagree that the media has an ethical obligation to abstain from suppressing information based upon political preference?

Moderator: Please consider this post does not belong in elections as the point is Media Censorship.

Censorship is related to politics. You can ask Fox News that question. I actually sent them an e-mail asking why they choose to censor Ron Paul. The Republican Party of today are a bunch of hypocrites. Ron Paul is a true Republican, he doesn't stand a chance running as one of them.

Unfortunately he has no chance of winning as an independent.

He got shut out of the last election too.

The republicans need to get their heads out of their butts and realize that as unpopular and just plain moronic Obama is, he is also incumbent during war. The warmongering theocrats and warmongering lefties scare the indies who are needed. Though the indies will not likely go to Obama, they could easily vote indie and skew the vote enough to give Obama the win. Remember Ross Perot? The republicans lost the indies and Clinton won with a plurality.

The only guy pushing to end the wars is Ron Paul (and Kucinich who is also ignored and ridiculed by the mainstream) and I feel he's the only one who can beat Obama. It's all about numbers.

So many people are blaming all sorts of things for our economic woes but while taxes and spending do nothing to help the economy, people drive the economy and scared people (including scared people running businesses) tend to spend less and don't take chances. War scares people. Neither the dems or the reps seem to get that.

I love Jon Stewart.
He may be funny, but he calls it like it is.

It's surreal when we tune in to comedy entertainment to get straight news and watch the "serious' commentaries for a good laugh.
