His sole motivation was to publicly focus intolerance for her point of view and try to make her squirm. She knew that, stayed in control of the situation, and refused to give him the satisfaction.

Even if his motivation was as you describe, she proved herself to be a) stupid for not anticipating it, and b) unable to handle the stress. These are not qualities you want in a politician.
She was a little sensitive, but in her defense, there is no current legislation about gay issues right now and once a GUEST on an interview states that they do not want to discuss an issue, which has no bearing at the moment, thier wishes should be gramted.
That is ludicrous. The topic is being discussed at every Republican debate, and every Republican candidate for President has expressed strong views about marriage, especially same-sex marriage.
