I see the signs posted all over stating that this is part of "the American Recovery Act" aka. "stimulus".

Then I started thinking, a bulldozer does the work of what? 100 men?

Why not hire 100 men with shovels to take the place of the bulldozer?

If it is indeed a "jobs program", why not hire as many men as possible?

Why not give them spoons? That would hire 1,000's of men.

Better yet, tooth picks. That would put 10's of thousands of men to work, right?

How about we just bring our troops home and instead of having them sit idle put them to work rebuilding our infranstructure?

Stopping immigration [legal and illegal] until the economy recovers would be the best thing to do at the moment. We bring in 3 million+ people a year if you count illegal aliens, that is ALOT of jobs Americans could use instead. We are pushing 10% unemployment at the least and that number is not going to drop by bringing in more people every year.

And the immigrants who end up unemployed are supported by the taxpayers, so that is also a net drain on the overall economy that we really dont need. The situation is lose lose for your average American, but win win for cheap labor advocates only. Also the GPD worshippers in Washington win from it to I guess, since they believe sheer numbers will always boost the GPD up [which it does, if they all work, if they are on welfare instead its a drain].
